Is it changing diet? More exercise? Using cellulite creams?

Will lots and lots of exercise get rid of cellulite alone?

Using cellulite creams does not work.

Lots and lots of exercise won’t work either because you’ll lose weight too rapidly, enhancing the look of cellulite. Exercise 30-60 minutes a day(try to do cardio-running, walking, skipping, swimming) and you’ll see results.

Aim for a healthy weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week. That means a calorie deficiency of 500-1000 calories per day. Change up your diet. Eat foods that are low in saturated fats-fruits & veggies, low-fat yogurt, lean meats, eggs.

hope that helps:))!

I know this is a dumb question and I dont want to give in to the buying market that says you can buy this and that to get rid of cellulite. However, I have heard that depending on your genes, some cellulite can go away completely by exercise. Im 28 and I have it on the old backside. Im not overweight but I was thinking toning my glutes and legs can maybe make it go away.
Don’t laugh at this folks, i just want to wear a bathing suite!

Mark S seems to know a lot about it but he is missing the point. what about lipoedema? this is cellulite with pain (and bruising) – a bilateral, symmetrical condition that can affect women of any size. You can be very slim on top and yet still have lipoedema on your bottom/thighs. there are hundreds of thousands of women out there with lipoedema who don’t know they have it and are made to feel guilty about it – this is not something that can be improved by diet.

hopefully you just have dimpled skin…and not lipoedema.

Ridding yourself of cellulite can be both risky and expensive, even though it is not considered a deadly disease.

Often liposuction is considered to be the easiest form of cellulite removal to guarantee instant results. However the risks associated with liposuction don’t always guarantee that your skin would return to a tight forming, crinkle free flesh.

Cellulite is the build up of fat deposits that are trapped within connective tissue beneath your skin. The cellulite area becomes hardened by your body’s toxins that haven’t been removed. For example, fats, retained fluids and toxins. Your skin becomes thinner as you age which is why older people, typically women, show more cellulite as they become older.

To eliminate cellulite without going into surgery will require your body to eliminate excess fat through regulation of diet and exercise. Even if you choose to undertake the expensive surgery option, you’ll need a set of guidelines to stop the cellulite from reappearing.

Here are five ways to reduce cellulite producing compounds from your diet:

1. Water. By drinking at least two litres of water every day you will enable your body to process the stored up fats and toxins. This is especially important if you start physical exercise.

2. Caffeine. Tea and coffee retains water in your body, which promotes cellulite growth. This needs to go!

3. Fried Foods. Grease and butter are “no go” foods as they build cellulite content in your body. If you remove these from your diet immediately then your desire for the taste of fried foods will diminish over time.

4. Sodium (salt). Salt also causes water retention. Chinese food contains a lot of salty additives so you would be best to avoid these products.

5. Vitamin C. Research has shown that Vitamin C helps to rid your body of toxins. This plays a key role in reducing cellulite. By eating at least three servings of fresh fruit a day, you will decrease the fat and toxin levels in your body, and reduce cellulite.

Here’s some practical advice about how to reduce cellulite:

1. Gentle exercise. Poor circulation contributes to an increase in cellulite, and is attributed to “couch potato” syndrome. To start the process of cellulite reduction will mean that you need start getting active. One way of doing this is to ride an indoor cycle. This assists to get the blood moving through your legs and body.

2. Be Realistic. The cellulite in your body didn’t appear overnight, and it won’t disappear overnight (unless of course you want to go the fast treatment way of liposuction!) Give yourself a few weeks to start to see your cellulite levels decrease. Weigh yourself, but don’t be a fanatic.

3. Be Practical. Read your food labels. One rule of thumb is that if there are more than two additives with numbers (ie. preservatives, colouring, etc) then best to avoid that product.

4. Weight Training. By starting a light weight training program you will speed up your metabolism, which decreases body fat and lowers your cellulite levels.

By focusing on foods that reduce cellulite, balanced by increasing your physical exercise, you will find that cellulite will start to disappear from your hips, legs and buttocks.

Aromatherapy oils have many therapeutic benefits that extend beyond them improving mood by simply smelling nice! It is these benefits that can be combined with self-massage to improve the appearance of cellulite. Whilst even the most expensive store-bought creams and treatments won’t eliminate cellulite permanently, the appearance of cellulite can be improved with regular treatments, and this extends to in-home remedies. This article will discuss why self-massage can help, and what aromatherapy oils and carrier bases lend themselves to this home spa experience. With a little daily persistence, these nurturing remedies can save you some money too!

There are three essential oils that are particularly recommended for cellulite treatment. These are juniper, lavender, and rosemary. Juniper and rosemary are both diuretic oils that stimulate the flow of blood and lymph, improve circulation, and reduce puffiness, swelling, and water retention. These qualities are important in relation to cellulite when you consider that it is the result of fluid accumulation in the fatty layer of the skin. This happens when there are problems in the microcirculation, and its’ believed to be associated with our hormones – especially estrogen.

Lavender is a beautifully scented oil that is relaxing and great for stress. But it also has benefits for the skin. It is toning, and has a revitalizing effect. When these oils are combined with a therapeutic carrier oil, they can be massaged into the skin for a good alternative cellulite remedy.

Carrier oils are important when using aromatherapy. Not only do they have a nourishing effect on their own, but some oils can be irritating when applied directly to the skin. This is especially true of sensitive skin types. Another point to consider is that the essential oils are usually quite thin compared to regular oil, and more expensive when you compare volume. The carrier oil allows the essential oil to be massaged, rather than being absorbed too quickly. And massage is integral to using aromatherapy effectively when it comes to cellulite.

Massage is well known in helping with circulation. Certain types of massage are specialized in improving the flow of lymph. Called lymphatic drainage, this massage is characterized by very soft strokes that go in certain directions associated with the body’s circulatory system. In contrast, some types of cellulite treatments that mimic massage in different ways – by incorporating suction cups and other tools – draw on the tradition of deep tissue massage. The upshot of all this is that people wanting to try this form of home massage have a choice in what type of strokes and pressure they will use.

There are a number of different carrier oils that can be used. These include rosehip, jojoba, grape seed, and avocado oil. Some of these oils are generally used in smaller amounts, so a mixture is actually good.

* Avocado – this oil penetrates deeply, thus it will carry the essential oils more deeply into the skin, increasing their effectiveness. It also has a softening effect, and tends to be mixed with other carrier oils.
* Grape seed oil has a mild astringent effect, which is good for toning the skin. Also quite nourishing, grape seed has linoleic acid in it, an essential fatty acid. Essential fatty acids are important for healthy cell membranes. Grape seed oil can be used in larger quantities, and is often used as a base with other carrier oils mixed in.
* Rosehip also contains essential fatty acids, this time GLA. Whilst generally used as an anti aging oil on the face, it is a good source of vitamin C which is important in skin health.
* Jojoba – though actually a liquid wax, jojoba is similar in structure to the oils in our skin, and has antioxidant properties. It is more expensive and is absorbed quickly, making it best in mixture of carrier oils when used in an anti-cellulite massage.

Aromatherapy cellulite remedies can be a lovely experience, providing benefits on many levels. As well as improving circulation and skin tone, with the use of massage they can help women improve the appearance of cellulite. Their scent can also make this a pampering and destressing daily experience.

Women of all body types when afflicted with cellulite will attempt to look for ways to prevail over the problem. The cause of cellulite is the result of redundant fats that are accumulated underneath the skin which result in the “orange peel” look. The condition appears to affect women more than men and it affects their self esteem, choosing to hide the unattractive bumps with clothes.

Cellulite is mainly attributable to weight even though skinny people do acquire cellulite. It is an incurable condition and the only solution is to diminish the appearance through the right diet and exercise.

Diet plays an important role in getting rid of cellulite so watch your weight and eat a balanced diet with sufficient fruits and vegetable. Weight lose is the sum factor of burning off more calories than consuming it. With decreased weight, the likelihood to have cellulite is corresponding diminish. As in any form of diet, discuss with your physician, in particular for those that have health issues.

Exercise not only help your heart, it increases muscle mass and develops your mental condition as well as getting rid of your embarrassment by lessening cellulite. For beginner, you can attempt leg curls on top of squats with ten to twelve repetitions as it builds your thighs and posterior, averting the appearance of cellulite.

As in all form of exercises, it will be difficult but you need to pace yourself and persist. For that, you can start off with something that you enjoy, maybe embark on a brisk walk, a spot of tennis, and swim in the pool or certain type of aerobic exercises. Why not cycle for fun or any enjoyable activities that will make you want more but avoid any strenuous workups.

The workup must entail weight training and cardiovascular exercises as they are great approaches to eradicate cellulite. Creams and pills might help but it is through the combination of all those factors that is truly effective. Do not overstrain yourself and rest the parts that are overstretched by concentrating on other areas of the body. A little massage can be useful as well.

Give yourself sufficient rest after each exercise for the body to replenish. Schedule your exercise at least three times a week with a fifteen to eighteen minutes workout. With proper caution you will find yourself with reducing cellulite.

Complement with certain herbal extracts as well as cream, supplements and anti-cellulite cream especially those parts of your body that are tough to reach even through exercise and diet. The rationale is that blood will not flow effectively down there. Retinol A is the best constituent in anti-cellulite cream together with algae and green tea extract. Whatever ways you employ to eradicate cellulite, drink adequate amount of water to refresh your body.

I’m a teenager and not over wieght but I can’t seem to get rid of the cellulite on the back of my legs? Are there any specific workouts that target that area? Would running help? Ha, i’m desprate, HELP PLEASE:(

Cellulite is basically fat deposed close to the skin. To get rid of it, you need a good, healthy diet low in saturated and trans fats and a lot of exercise. Running or lightly jogging could help you get rid of cellulite as running is a good way to burn fat. A simple brisk walk for 30 minutes could even do the trick. With spring here, try to go outside more and walk or kick a soccer ball around. You could dance, too.

Finally, we have a professional answer to the question of whether you can get rid of cellulite if you lose weight in the area where the cellulite has appeared. And, like all honest official answers, the response was sometimes.

If you’re part of the 15 percent of women who have no experience with cellulite, then you are indeed blessed. For many of us, especially the ones who are veterans of the weight wars, however, we know it intimately. If you look in the mirror at all, there’s no missing those fat deposits under the skin that make it look like orange peel, usually on our hips, buttocks, and thighs. It’s most common in those of us of the feminine persuasion. It comes about because there are strands of fiber like collagen tissue that connect your skin with the underlying tissues and thus create compartments for our fat cells. When the fat cells get bigger, the compartments bulge out and produce the dimpling effect. The more fat in those fat cells, the more bulging and you can guess the rest.

But there also seems to be a genetic component that helps determine whether a person will display cellulite or not. Some thin women exhibit marked cellulite in certain areas and some women who are medically classified as morbidly obese don’t display any at all. People who have thicker skin seem to have less of it, too. In addition, hormonal and other changes that occur during pregnancy and aging can lead to weakening of the collagen fibers and the thinning of the skin, both of which can lead to more cellulite.

There is no well-defined adverse medical effect of cellulite, other than cosmetic, so The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) stated that there is no medical condition known or described as cellulite in this country almost 20 years ago. So there’s no cure for this unsightly phenomenon, but there certainly seem to be a lot of products and procedures on the market with the professed goal of combating it.

Notwithstanding all these considerations, the conventional wisdom is that weight gain is directly associated with the appearance of cellulite on our bodies. If that’s true, then losing weight should help get rid of it.

In the August 2006 edition of the journal of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Dr. Sam Speron, from Chicago, described a study on 29 women who were enrolled in medically supervised weight loss programs. The programs varied from low fat meals to liquid diets to prescription drugs to surgery. The average weight loss for these patients was 30.5 pounds, but ranged from 2.3 to 102 pounds.

At the end of the study, seventeen of these patients had an improved appearance in the cellulite affected areas, but nine actually looked worse. The cellulite didn’t totally disappear in anybody. The dimples got shallower in the patients who looked better.

So what made the difference? According to Dr. Speron, the patients who lost larger amounts of weight, especially fat in the thigh area, had the greatest improvement in their cellulite. These were also the patients who had the highest starting body mass index (BMI; a measure of weight to height) and the worst cellulite to begin with. The ones whose cellulite got worse started at a lower BMI, lost less weight, and did not decrease their percentage of thigh fat. Another important factor related to appearance was skin elasticity. If the skin didn’t tighten up after the weight loss, the cellulite looked worse.

So what’s a body to do? Seems a major key here is to reduce the percentage of fat in the thighs or wherever the cellulite is appearing. Anybody got any good ideas on how to do that? Seems the experts all say there’s no way to get rid of subcutaneous fat in just one area. You can build the underlying muscles by doing exercises that emphasize using those muscles, but that doesn’t reduce the fat over them unless we lose fat all over. So it’s back to the sound diet and every day exercise routine. What price health and beauty?

In today’s world, fashion means everything. Many women are living lives that promote health and beauty. They get plenty of sleep every night, eat right, and get plenty of exercise. However, they are still plagued with unsightly cellulite. Underlying layers of fat that appears as dimpled skin causes cellulite.

Some people refer to Cellulite as “Cottage Cheese” or “Orange Peel” skin due to its appearance. It is said that nearly 95% of all women have some degree of Cellulite, and scientists believe that hormones attribute to the cause of Cellulite.

It isn’t a result of being overweight, but the effect that hormones are having on the layer of fat under the skin. That is why some very thin people may still have some degree of Cellulite. The most effective method that has been shown to help Cellulite is exercise.

It is also beneficial to treat Cellulite as you would any other toxins in the body. Purifying and detoxifying the body is very helpful, as is periodically fasting and cleansing the body. Living a life that includes regular daily exercise and a nutrition-rich diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables also help. One area that cannot be overlooked is water. Your water intake can play a very important role in the treatment of Cellulite. Drinking plenty of water will help flush out the system and will help release Cellulite once it has been broken down by the body and be eliminated properly.

Cellulite can have a very devastating effect upon self-esteem. This can be especially true for women who are dedicating themselves to maintaining their personal appearance and standards of beauty. It can be increasingly frustrating to deal with stubborn Cellulite that seems to be fighting all efforts of its removal. The important step in the treatment of Cellulite will be in patience. You will find that you need to stick with your plan, continue exercising, and be diligent in your fight against Cellulite.

There are some great herbs and plants that can assist you in your quest to rid yourself of Cellulite. These herbs help to break down fat deposits in the body, and will also help to eliminate them. Remember that drinking plenty of water is vital to flushing out the system and removing impurities, so whenever you are on a treatment against Cellulite, increase your daily water intake for maximum results.

Using herbal essential oils in massage oils is a great way to treat Cellulite and to help encourage it to break down. Grapefruit has also been shown to be effective in increasing metabolism and assisting in the removal of fat as well as in releasing toxins. Adding grapefruits to your diet is a good step as well as drinking pure grapefruit juice.

You can make great massage oil that is applied directly to the Cellulite areas by using 4 drops of Juniper, 4 drops of Sweet Fennel, and 2 drops of Cypress. Blend this with one ounce of carrier oil such as Sweet Almond or Jojoba Oil. Deep massage techniques are beneficial for breaking down the fat and smoothing the skin.
